We are continually looking for ways to improve our existing product line, and started an upgrade to our Custom IFS control arms way back in 2001. We were making so many sets to keep up with orders that the labor needed to produce them was getting to be an issue. At the same time, we started seeing folks come out with super cheap MII kits. Any good business man knows you can only sell cheap if you build cheap, and we did not want to go down the road of cutting quality just to be cheap. Our name and your safety are worth more than that to us. We would rather compete by enhancing the value than cut the quality, earning your business by doing a better job.

Our volume on these control arms had gotten so high that it was time to enter into a “manufactured” rather than a labor intensive “fabricated” design. Much time was invested until we found a design that could allow us to actually improve quality while maintaining cost. By using an aerospace company experienced with 17-4 Stainless steel castings (used in fighter jet engine controls) we were able to produce ISO 9002 quality standard control arms in a quantity that allowed the labor savings needed. They are supplied in a fully polished finish, with brush finish modular plates for the different spring options used in our Stage kits. Polished stainless ball joint covers are included at no charge to complete the High Tech style. Special high strength bolts handle the critical lower arm loads, with mill finish stainless fasteners for the rest of the installation. We cannot say it too many times — use ANTISIEZE!!! on all SS fasteners!

We are especially proud of the high quality Urethane bushings and lower coil spring seats used on the control arms. Extensive testing produced a material that is stable enough to handle the loads without producing a harsh ride. In fact, our exclusive design spring seat reduced NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) so much that we immediately redesigned our GM control arms to use them as well. When our company ’49 Chevy had the first set installed in place of the old style all steel tubular arms, you could feel the difference in the first ¼ mile!

All our Hub to Hub Stage Custom IFS kits include these truly High Tech control arms for the same price we used to sell them with plain steel arms. The stainless arms can be bought separately for $849 a set, while we do still have plain steel arms at $580 per set.
